Screen, Scan, and Survive

The EWTF offers comprehensive care for female participants, from well visits and screenings to maternity coverage. One routine pap smear, which screens for cervical cancer, is covered per year, as is a related office visit. One mammogram, to scan for breast cancer, is covered per year for women age 35 or older. It should be noted that EWTF coverage for mammograms exceeds the recommendations of the American Cancer Society, the United States Preventative Task Force and the Centers for Disease Control, all of which suggest mammogram screening at a more advanced age than 35. The EWTF knows that breast cancer diagnoses are occurring in younger women and more frequently and the keys to a good health outcome are early detection and treatment.
